Love Me.

Discover the world of Macrame
The earliest discovery of macrame as a form of art or decoration could be found during the Babylonians or Assyrians. Fringe like weaving and braiding were often found on costumes of that time and found on their stone scriptures. Arab weavers called this decorated cloth embroidery migramah which involved knotting excess thread along the edges of fabrics, like towels, shawls and veils. Often the decorative fringes were used to keep flies off camels and horses. Macrame was most popular during the Victorian Era, and could be found in homes as table cloths, bedspreads and curtains.
In the 19th century, sailors would make macrame objects to pass time at sea. The popularity of the art faded and resurfaced in the 1970s where the making of wall hangings, clothing accessories, plant hangers and other home furnishings became a popular staple in homes around America. Macrame jewelry was especially popular among Americans, mainly using square knots and granny knots with features of glass beads and natural elements. Necklaces, bracelets and anklets became popular forms of jewelry. By early 1980s the craft again begun to fall out only to be revived by the Millennials.

About Love Me.
My Story
Born the youngest of four in Toronto and raised in Barrie, my love for art and design started at a very early age. With the love and encouragement of my oldest brother, I develop my talents through many art mediums. Later, in age my art evolved into design and building. Watching my Father create many pieces of furniture, I started to expand my artistic side to the home decor and finishings. Later enrolling into a local college for Interior Design Arts and Technology. I started off with color consulting and kitchen and bath design, my heart always going back to the creative art media. After having 3 children, my life became very busy and my passions were naturally put aside to raise them. Through some life struggles and the loss of my Father, I have drawn myself back to my core love and created Love Me. The name comes from my trademark signature in cards with a heart. My unique way of signing off.
